It’s fall, otherwise known as legging season! There are so many leggings on the market, so which ones to buy? I did a week of leggings where I tried on a ton of brands and styles and bring you my personal favorites. These are all great to tuck into a pair of Frye boots, wear with your Converse on the weekend, or mix in with your yoga clothes for a quick workout.
–Best all-around legging: Aerie’s Slim Gym legging is the perfect cotton legging. There is no binding, no heavy seams, and they are just the most comfortable to wear! They have a great high waistband that you can wear high up or roll over. The Slim Gyms (they make you look trim!) come in a skinny, straight leg or flare and are at an amazing price.
–Best luxe-legging: Wolford’s Mat Opaque 80 Denier Legging is light, smooth and perfectly opaque. They feel like velvet on the skin and give you complete coverage in a very light, luxe fabrication. The colors are gorgeous, so skip the black and go for mocha, dynasty and allure.
–Best shaping legging: The Sassybax Cigarette Pant has moderate to firm control helping to hold in the tummy and thighs, but they really read as a pant and not activewear. You can wear these out in public feeling truly confident. We love the waistband (which you can wear high or roll over) and the way the pants are a little loose at the ankle feeling less like a tight than other leggings.
–Best light-shaper: The Flexees Fat Free Dressing Legging by Maidenform is a great casual legging for working out or running around town. They feel super silky (I couldn’t stop touching them) and have a nice, light tummy panel to comfortably rid of muffin top.
–Best fashion legging: Vince makes an amazing knit legging that really feels like more of a pant (just in case you want to show your butt, these are the ones to do it in). The seaming actually makes you look slim and fit in these and the knit feels amazing to the touch.
–Best legging as accessory: HUE makes leggings in corduroy, leatherette, cotton and double knit in tons of fun colors all for under $50. It’s a great way to experiment with something a little more fun like this tuxedo legging (seen above); the perfect dress up for your most comfy pants.
–Best maternity legging: Destination Maternity’s Secret Fit Belly Leggings from A Pea in the Pod are perfect for the soon-to-be mommies. They look like your perfect jersey knit legging, but have the secret belly panel up top making them fit comfortably over your tummy even as you continue to grow. What could be more comfy during pregnancy?
