It’s hard for me to talk about one particular thing I love about Anthropologie, as there are so many lovely things I wish I could get my hands on. I adore Anthropologie. More than adore, really, more like borderline obsession. So naturally, when I came across this photo below a few weeks ago, I knew exactly where to turn.
Vintage bathing suits have it going on in all the right places. Because of the insane dramatization of female sizes we have become accustomed to in this century, returning back to vintage styles is the perfect look for a girl who wants to compliment her curves or wants to make her curves appear bigger. It cinches your waist and accentuates your hips and bust, all while providing coverage where you need it. We’re talking high waisted, bandeau tops and halter ties. Again, perfect for the busty girl or the tall and thin. It’s a win, win situation!
Anthropologie has dominated the vintage market for quite some time, and I knew their swim line would not disappoint me this summer. Here are some of my favorite picks:
1 // Dear Marlene Bikini – color blocking at it’s finest. This sporty high-waist swimsuit is perfect for the summer….and for girls who like to do more than just lay on the beach!
2 // Kamini Swimsuit – Navy, White and Anchor Buttons. Need I say more?
3 // Yakimi Bikini – A bright red cherry print and retro silhouette. So charming, feminine and the bows are just the sweetest detail.
4 // Isometric Maillot – This suit has been on my radar for FOREVER! Zinke’s perfect vintage style makes for an amazing summer bathing suit line that Anthropologie picked up. And it comes with a removable skirt. I think I just died and went to bathing suit heaven.
5 // Retro Poppy Bikini – I seriously want this bathing suit as a lingerie set! It’s fun, flirty and the high waisted bottom and underwire top makes this a perfect vintage suit.
6 // Tidal Dock Maillot – do stripes get any more vintage than this? I love this navy and white striped one piece. It’s just perfect for summer.
7 // Dolly Gingham Maillot – the perfect retro one piece. Leave it to the cinching and pattern to flatter the places you want to flaunt.
8 // Star-Scattered Bikini – is it just me, or does this suit scream Fourth of July? I’m just picturing this with a red sun hat, a vintage navy cover up and a summery cocktail.
9 // Sweetheart Patchwork Maillot – one of my favorite things about vintage bathing suits is the sweetheart necklines. The fun pattern is great for summer and the cut is oh so retro.
What about you? What is your favorite place to shop for vintage swimwear? I’d love to hear your suggestions!
